A protest walk against the opening of a lithium mine in this area is being held...in Lopara on Majevica...[C]itizens say: "We defend what no one has the right to take away from us: clean water, healthy land and air"...

The resolution, as stated, strongly condemns any activity related to the opening of mines, as well as any agreements with domestic or foreign investors. Possible negative consequences for the environment and the health of residents were also pointed out.

One of the speakers at the protest was Snežana Jagodić Vujić from the Ecological Association Eko Put, who emphasized the multiple importance of Majevica. "Majevica is an area of ​​exceptional biological diversity, rich in forests, home to relict species under international protection.

It essentially represents the lungs of the entire region, and it also has enormous potential for sustainable tourism, ecological agriculture and education," said Jagodić Vujić.

According to her, the plan is to declare Majevica a Nature Park, which is foreseen in the Spatial Plan of the Republic of Srpska. In this way, it would be legally protected and at the same time healthy, long-term and locally sustainable development would be encouraged...
