Cambodia: Company alleged to clear communities’ farmland without consultation, suppressing right to protests & remedy, incl. co. non-response

BHRC Asia-Pacific

Phnom Penh Cambodia_April 2026

In May, residents of Preah Vihear's Rovieng district alleged that Global Green (Cambodia) Energy Development Co., Ltd., involved in a 984-hectare land dispute with the communities, began clearing their farmland without consultation, forcing them to accept compensation and sign documents restricting future protest. Community members also alleged that they were threatened with legal action, police summonses while under surveillance, suppressing their right to peaceful protests.

In late May, Business and Human Rights Center requested Global Green to respond to the allegations but it did not.
