Malaysia: Glovemaker Supermax says it is committed to combat forced labour amid US CBP investigations

"Supermax says it has taken concrete steps to protect workers’ rights", 31 May 2021

GLOVEMAKER Supermax Corp Bhd said it has taken concrete steps and is resolute in ensuring the rights of its workers are respected and protected.

The group said the group upholds both local and international labour standards and is fully compliant with environmental, social and governance practices.

“The group is committed to combating forced labour and adheres to labour law regulations pertaining to migrant workers. Our efforts are guided by international policies such as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the International Labour Organisation’s 11 Indicators of Forced Labour,” Supermax said in an exchange filing today.

On Saturday, it was reported that US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) was investigating Malaysian glove makers Hartalega Holdings Bhd and a Supermax’s unit.
