Myanmar: 86 garment workers reportedly dismissed from H&M & C&A supplier without full compensation; incl. co. responses

On 30 November 2021, 86 workers from Mingalar Sumbiri Garment factory were allegedly told they were being dismissed, and that the factory would deduct one month from their compensation pay. The factory reportedly told workers if they did not agree, the factory would close and they would not receive their compensation.

In June 2022, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited C&A and H&M to respond.

C&A said it had solved the matter with the factory in November/December 2021, and that all dismissed workers had been compensated. H&M said that all cases it had received from Business and Human Rights Resource Centre on allegations of labour rights abuses in Myanmar factories had been resolved, with the exception of one case it was actively working on.
