Information on workplace accidents

On 30 April 2025, a fatal accident occurred at the hazardous production facility “Sheregesh Mine (underground mining method),” operated by JSC EVRAZ ZSMK in the Kemerovo Region.

On 30 April 2025, while technical work was being carried out to service a mass blast at the Sheregesh mine, employees of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise VGSCh heard unusual sounds caused by the movement of clay slurry (a mixture of water and clay) along a mine working. An order was given to evacuate to the surface. However, a respirator operator from the Federal State Unitary Enterprise VGSCh did not exit the emergency area.

On 2 May 2025, during mine rescue operations, the respirator operator from the Federal State Unitary Enterprise VGSCh was found without signs of life.

A commission has been established to investigate the circumstances and causes of the accident, chaired by the Deputy Head of the Siberian Department of Rostekhnadzor. The investigation has not yet been completed.
