Cividep responds to Dell's statement

...[S]ome of Dell’s workers reported to be paid less than 6136 Rs the current minimum wage in the electronics sector in Tamil Nadu. Since Dell does not issue salary slips to its employees it is very difficult to verify this information...workers reported that they have been actively discouraged from joining a trade union at the time of recruitment...Dell needs to take responsibility to ensure compliance with all Indian labour laws and the EICC code of conduct. Above that Dell should ensure that it pays all its employees worldwide wages that en- able them to live a decent life. [Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Dell to respond, we will indicate next week if Dell responds].
