Dutch plan to charge Trafigura over toxic ship

Dutch prosecutors plan to file criminal charges against oil trading company Trafigura and the Amsterdam council over their roles in an oil tanker's toxic waste which was blamed for killing 16 people in Ivory Coast. Lawyers for Trafigura, the Amsterdam council, Dutch waste processing firm Amsterdam Port Services BV (APS [part of Main BV]) and the captain of the ship Probo Koala have been told that the four parties will be charged shortly, a spokeswoman for the prosecutors said on Tuesday... [Trafigura] agreed to pay a $198 million settlement to the Ivory Coast government but denied responsibility for the dumping or any wrongdoing.
