Morocco: Strike at Peugeot plant against poor working conditions incl. non payment of compensation for overtime and hazardous work; Incl. co response

An article published by Morocco World News Says that workers at Peugeot Société Anonyme (PSA) plant in Kenitra, Morocco went on strike, to protest their working conditions, long working hours and low wages.

According to the article, the General Confederation Labor of PSA factories announced its full support to the strike stating that workers at PSA’s Kenitra plant are often forced to work overtime without compensation and they do not benefit from medical coverage or compensation for hazardous work.

The Business & Human Right Resource Centre contacted PSA for a response; their response can be read in full below.

“You are taking the right decision to protest against your working conditions,” “You produce the 208 [Peugeot] brand, which is sold for 20,000 and 25,000 in Europe. How much do you get?”
Jean Marc Mercier, Union Delegate for PSA factories
