Unions call on LafargeHolcim to respect workers' rights ahead of AGM as Swiss NCP releases final statement on OECD complaint over alleged labour abuses

Ahead of LafargeHolcim's Annual General Meeting on 4 May, global unions Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI), IndustriALL and the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers released a statement calling on the company to make concrete commitments to respecting workers' rights, including subcontracted and third party workers.

On 11 May, the Swiss National Contact Point published its final statement on the OECD complaint filed by BWI against LafargeHolcim over its labour practices, particularly regarding trade union rights, and alleged labour abuses in Philippines in December 2019. In its statement, the Swiss NCP recommends that both parties pursue their dialogue at the global and local level, especially as regards the treatment of LafargeHolcim workers and asks parties to report on progress within six months.

LafargeHolcim, in the German media article linked below, said it fully complies with the labour laws of the respective country and international guidelines, and that it keeps an open channel of communication to resolve conflicts and regularly shares information on company developments. More information can be found below.
