Disha Ravi is an Indian environmental and climate change activist who has helped clean up lakes, plant trees and campaigned against plastic. Ms Ravi is also one of the founders of the local wing of Fridays For Future, a global movement begun by climate change activist Greta Thunberg. She participated in campaigns to preserve the lion-tailed macaque in an Indian bio-diversity spot, and stall a hydro power plant, among other causes. Ms Ravi was arrested after sharing a Google document intended to help farmers protest against new agriculture reform laws in India, which have sparked farmers protests. The so-called "toolkit", which suggested ways of helping the farmers, was tweeted by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. Ms Ravi, accused of sedition and conspiracy, was eventually released after some days of detention as the Judge found that the charges had no ground. Environmental activists Shantanu Muluk and Nikita Jacob were also arrested the following day. Google has been criticised for complying with the government's request to share data on their users, which led to the arrest of the activist. Delhi police said they had written to Google and other technology companies in February, seeking user information and activity logs associated with creating and sharing the toolkit. The police said they are also seeking information from the video conferencing application Zoom about those who attended a meeting about preparing the toolkit, and from WhatsApp about a group created to support farmers protests.
