Response from Rio Tinto

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Rio Tinto to respond to the following allegations and concerns of operations in Jadar, Serbia:

  • Allegations of deprivation of objective information to local populations despite the media company being financed by Rio Tinto
  • Allegation of irregularities perpetrated by Rio Tinto to avoid conducting an environmental impact assessment
  • Concerns around biodiversity risks, water pollution, increased risks of flash floods, and other environmental impacts.

The company did respond.
