Response McDonald's

The BHRC invited McDonald's to respond to the following allegations and concerns of the local group Comisión Vecinal del Mercado de Puertochico for Mc Donalds Baika Puertochico operations:

  • Concerns around the potential loss of Puertochico market as a venue for local independent commerce, and the preservation of local culture and artisans with the installation of McDonald's Baika Puertochico operation.
  • Allegations that the installation of the McDonald's franchise privatises public space
  • Allegations of silencing and intimidation of protesters
  • Allegations around the legality regarding municipal ordinances
  • Allegations of lack of transparency in the granting process and inconsistent resolutions concerning allegations related to the project

The Company did provide a response.
