BBVA response to Fair Finance report

BBVA has a commitment to respect human rights in line with the United Nation Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and an Action Plan on Human Rights 2021-22.

Moreover, we aim to contribute to progress in respect for human rights by preventing the adverse impacts derived from financing activities . In that sense, BBVA has an Environmental and Social Framework that covers the infrastructure sector ( page 19 -21) .

Regarding the “Table 7 -Top-30 financiers of construction and hospitality companies active in Qatar (USD mln)” ( page 51 of the report) , at the moment, BBVA has no exposure in direct finance for the sector of “construction and hospitality” in Qatar. Therefore, we would like to ask for a more detailed disclosure of the data for BBVA.

Considering our commitment, we remain at the disposal of the author of the report to clarify the data and engage in this topic as soon as possible.
