Chevron plays offense in wrongful death suit

Chevron Corp...has gone on the offensive weeks before the opening of a civil trial in which it faces charges of wrongful death, civil conspiracy, torture and negligence [in Nigeria]. In an unusual move for the San Ramon company, Chevron has approached the media to offer a briefing on the case, Bowoto v. Chevron Corp. Jury selection in the case is scheduled to begin Sept. 29 in U.S. District Court in San Francisco….Chevron has denied all the charges and says the protestors in the first incident took Chevron workers hostage and attacked law enforcement when it arrived.
