Response of McDonald’s to articles about Coalition of Immokalee Workers campaign for living wage & working condition standards among tomato suppliers

Our company, as a food-service retailer, cares very much about the policies and practices of our suppliers. That is why we have a long-standing Code of Conduct well-integrated into our supply chain system... Additionally, over the past several months, we’ve been seriously engaged in discussions involving a number of opportunities and solutions with different parties including our suppliers, industry groups and advocacy organizations such as the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. These discussions have led to McDonald’s active support and endorsement of the newly-created “Socially Accountable Farm Employers” (SAFE) code of conduct for the tomato industry... SAFE is one of the first agriculture programs that provides verifiable protection for workers.
