On 24 July 2024, a documentary filmmaker and a journalist working for a press agency were arrested by the federal policy on the ground floor of the Cologne-Bonn airport building. The journalists were covering the demonstration by climate activists from the Last Generation group, intending to influence transport policy. Although they identified themselves as press, the journalists were obstructed in their work. Their press cards and identity cards were confiscated and the public prosecutor's office ordered identification procedures. The journalists were finally released after nearly three hours in police custody.
