Brazil: Inter-American Court on Human Rights hears first case of slave labour against a State

On 18 and 19 February, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR ) held the first international hearing on slave labour against a State, in San José , Costa Rica. The Brazil Verde Estate vs. Brazil case was brought before the Court by the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL ) and the Land Pastoral Commission (CPT). According to the organizations, the case is about slave labour and human trafficking and took place in the Brazil Verde Estate, in the state of Pará, Brazil.
