USA: Amid mass layoffs, tech firms hire migrants under temporary work visa to cut labour costs, incl. co. responses

A research by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) published in April 2023 found that tech companies in USA hired some 34,000 new workers via H-1B visa program to cut labour costs. At the same time, at least 85,000 workers were laid off in 2022 in firmes like Meta, Microsoft, Google and Amazon.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre has invited Meta, Microsoft, Google and Amazon to respond to the above allegations. Their responses or non-responses are outlined below.
