At least 142 families who were relocated from Zvishavane to Shashe in Masvingo to pave way for Murowa Diamond Mine, have accused the mining company [Rio Tinto] of breach of the relocation agreement...Technical advisor of the Murowa-Shashe Development Committee...Kudakwashe Dhliwayo...said the families were not allocated the agreed hectarage..."As agreed in the initial agreement with Rio Tinto, the company agreed to plough back profits from the mine as royalties but this is not happening...Infrastructure that was built at Shashe is sub-standard..." said Mr Dhliwayo....However, the Murowa Diamond Mine external relations manager Mr Israel Chokuwenga said the mining firm had tried its best to fulfill the agreement.
