Tesco's Response

Tesco does not tolerate underpayment of wages. We have a small sourcing presence in Karnataka and have been in regular communication with suppliers on this issue. We continue to work with the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI) and other brands to ensure this issue is resolved and workers are paid in full.

We not only require that current and future wages be paid at the higher rate, but also that back-payments be made for wages from April 2020. This must be calculated taking into account overtime wages, bonus and other such benefits to ensure the correct sums are backdated.
