Today the Board of Directors of the World Bank, against all legal reasoning and social opposition, approved two loans Botnia to construct one of the world’s largest pulp mills ever. Local sentiment to the decision was conveyed through some of the stakeholders that still remain on the bridge and may do so over the entire summer months: “The World Bank will not be able to quiet the opinion of local people with money and loans”, stated Jorge Frixler, one of over a hundred thousand local residents opposing the investment.
