Axed host threatens to sue MTV

A dispute between a controversial television host and MTV escalated Wednesday with Joe Maalouf threatening legal action against the station after owner Gabriel Murr reportedly canceled his show “Enta Horr” and banned him from the premises. Maalouf criticized Dikwaneh Mayor Antoine Shakhtoura in an April 30 episode for ordering the raid of a gay-friendly nightclub and the detention of at least four individuals, one of whom, a transsexual, was allegedly abused by Shakhtoura’s deputies...Maalouf he came under fire in August [2012] when he used his show as a platform to expose a pornographic cinema in Tripoli where he claimed homosexual acts were taking place...[Producer] Zeineddine said he was proud to have helped close the cinema, claiming that underage boys were being abused there. He regretted, however, the use of derogatory language to refer to homosexual acts, and said the show’s producers had learned from their mistakes and made an effort to use the correct terminology.
