Colombia: Cerrejon coal announces settlement with last two relocated families to New Roche village

“Roche families and Cerrejón reach a final relocation agreement”

Cerrejón [part of Anglo American, BHP Billiton & Glencore] and the two families from the community of Roche whose resettlement was still pending, reached an agreement on October 2nd that will allow significant progress in their resettlement process. The agreement consisted in defining the plots of land that each family will receive in order to continue with their cattle-rearing activities, the restitution of cattle lost during the negotiation process, and the establishment of a methodology to assess and respond to specific claims presented by the families.
