Richard Howitt, European Parliament Rapporteur on Corporate Social Responsibility

[DOC] Long-awaited European Corporate Reporting Law published next week

Today's...announcement that that the European Commission will next Tuesday (16 April) unveil a law to ensure that the social, environmental and human rights impacts of large companies must be publicly reported, has been welcomed as a possible "huge step in promoting sustainable and accountable business" by the Euro MP who has campaigned for the law for over a decade. "This is a huge step towards promoting sustainable and accountable business." [said Richard Howitt]..."Today less than one in ten of Europe's large companies disclose this information but the blinkers can come off on Tuesday for the remaining 90 per cent. The law can play an essential role in incentivising environmentally sustainable companies and in rebuilding tarnished public trust in business."
