Macedonia trade union prepares strike

Macedonia’s biggest trade union…is preparing a general strike following changes to the labour law that they argue have drastically cut workers' rights…Pece Grujovski from the union’s leadership [said]…that the changes give greater freedom to the employers while at the same time drastically cutting some benefits to the workers like the number of days off…The government...came out with an explanation that the cutting of worker rights was aimed at attracting more investors to the country’s weak economy that would in return create more jobs.
