"More than 300 workers re-employed at Yangon bag factory", 20 April 2020

A tot[a]l of 323 workers from bag manufacturing factory Brightberg Enterprises (Myanmar) located at Industrial Zone 2 in Dagon Seikkan township were re-employed...and the lawsuits against 18 workers withdrawn after a demonstration outside the factory. [...]

The workers were sacked on April 20. The factory announced on April 19 that the affected workers had been absent for 10 consecutive days, caused disruptions at the workplace and compromised other workers by blocking them from entering the workplace.

Labour leader Ma War War Khine said a demonstration will be organised by workers demanding to return to work. "We won't protest as the government has issued orders against doing so. But dismissal of more than 300 workers implies the employer is intentionally creating a tough situation," [...]
