A mineworker has died from a rock fall at the Impala Platinum mine in Rustenburg, the National Union of mine Workers (NUM) said on Friday. This brings the number of fatalities in the industry to 63 from January to date...The NUM has expressed concerns about the health and safety of workers at the mines and has called for an “urgent debate on health and safety of workers by captains of the mining industry, trade unions and the government.”...We call upon the mining companies to invest more money in protecting the lives of workers than focusing more on profits.
