South Africa: 1 worker killed, 1 trapped at Implats mine - union urges companies to better protect workers' lives

Two employees were trapped underground at Impala Platinum Holdings Limited (Implats) mine in Rustenburg following a fall of ground, with one of them being found dead, and the other one still missing. National Union of Mineworker (NUM), in a statement said it is seriously concerned by the trend of mineworkers being trapped underground in mines in South Africa, and has called upon mining companies to invest more in health and safety in mines.
