Taseko Mines makes big donation to Vancouver mental health

The company behind a controversial mining project in northern British Columbia is donating $1.5 million to a new mental health facility in Vancouver…Taseko is the company behind the New Prosperity Mine proposal west of Williams Lake. The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency recently concluded the project, located near Taseko Lake, would have “significant adverse environmental effects”…[T]he vice-president of corporate affairs for Taseko Mines said the donation is meant to help those in need of mental health services…He said any suggestion the mine made the donation to curry favour with the public or government is misguided…
