Largest oil plant in Turkmenistan sent workers on unpaid leave, 21 September 2022

The Turkmenabad oil plant, one of the largest in Turkmenistan, has again sent its workers on unpaid leave. As a reminder, due to the shortage of raw materials, production at this enterprise was suspended back in May of this year.

“Due to the fact that there are no cotton seeds for the production of oil, the plant management again forced the workers to write applications for unpaid leave starting from September 10. The director of the plant announced that he would not be able to pay salaries due to the stoppage of production, and therefore ordered that all applications were submitted before October 1. He promised that when enough raw materials arrive to resume the production, certain number of workers would be able to return to work,” a worker of the oil plant said on September 20...

He also noted that the management of the plant announced the upcoming reduction of about 300 jobs early next year.
