Yunus Urges Re-Think of Economic Systems

Nobel peace laureate Muhammad Yunus on Friday urged countries and companies to rethink the systems and economic theories that keep millions of people enslaved by poverty worldwide..."Poverty is created by the decisions that we have made around the world, by the framework, the theory, and the business definitions we have come up with." [the economist said at the closing of a conference on corporate social responsibility]...[discussions included] how companies and governments could work together toward solutions for such problems as poverty, environmental damage, climate change, workers rights and corruption..."The drama of climate change is that it was all caused by rich people, but the poor people are bearing the burden," said [Norwegian Foreign Minister] Stoere...Yunus said about two-thirds of the world's population do not qualify for loans in commercial banks.
