Response from Alcoa to Oxfam's open letter

... "Alcoa is committed to contributing to the sustainable development of the countries and communities where we operate. We are proud to be an EITI Supporting Company and we remain steadfast in our commitment to mineral revenue transparency.

Alcoa will continue to work through the consultation process with ICMM as the EITI Supporting Company Expectations are clarified at the February EITI Board meeting. We are committed to fulfilling EITI Supporting Company Expectations and believe it is important to be transparent in the countries where we mine bauxite so that communities and other stakeholders have a clear understanding of our economic contributions.

We look forward to working with the industry, governments, and civil society through the EITI to enhance transparency in the extractives industry. ..."
