Response from AngloGold Ashanti to Oxfam's open letter

... "AngloGold Ashanti, a company supporter of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), is fully committed to transparency in its reporting of payments to host governments. In fact, we provide data on payments to governments in all countries where we operate, independent of whether the countries are implementing the EITI Standard. This information is reported each year in our annual Sustainability Report, most recently on Page 66 of the 2020 Sustainability Report issued in April of last year.

AngloGold Ashanti is proud of this track record of transparency, and our performance against the EITI Company Expectations can be reviewed in the first-ever assessment of adherence to the Expectations for EITI supporting companies, published last year.

As you know, the EITI’s secretariat is currently undertaking a thorough review of these Expectations with the input of a wide group of stakeholders, a process aimed at further improving them. We are supportive of this multi-stakeholder process and would prefer to engage on the specific issues raised in your letter through the EITI company constituency while this review is underway. ..."
