EU: NGO directors urge EU Commissioner Reynders to help deliver a corporate accountability law that will truly protect people and the environment

Today, NGO Directors called on Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders to remember his promise to help deliver a corporate accountability law that will truly protect people and the environment from the harms that businesses can cause. On Wednesday December 13th, the final negotiations on a new law could push businesses to act more sustainably, or water down these rules, paving the way for more 'business as usual'.

Our directors are asking Commissioner Reynders to ensure that the law helps victims of corporate abuse seek justice, stops banks from investing in harmful projects, protects the climate and covers key parts of business operations. Without these pieces, the law falls short of the transformative effect it promised to have.
