US Program Coordinator

  • Location: Brooklyn, NY
  • Rolling application

WITNESS seeks to hire a Program Coordinator who will support activists, civic witnesses, and social movements across the US to better utilize digital video and tools to expose abuses, create and amplify counter narratives, uphold human rights values, and mobilize for change.

The Program Coordinator will help identify and engage partners, collaborators, and influential content creators within marginalized communities, social justice organizations, legal networks, and grassroots movements (e.g. immigration rights, LGBTQ rights, police accountability) who are already using digital tools, but want to be doing so more effectively. This will include in-person trainings, creation and distribution of tailored training resources, and sharing of lessons across interrelated movements both in the US and in WITNESS’ programmatic work in other regions. Additionally, during moments of escalated tension, when many people are suddenly taking part in civic witnessing (e.g. after a police shooting or during widespread protests), the Program Coordinator will identify opportunities to adapt and share timely resources that can help to improve documentation and sharing in real time, improving the chances that more eyewitness videos lead to more rights, justice, reform, and constructive dialogues.

WITNESS makes it possible for anyone, anywhere to use video and technology to protect and defend their rights. We provide training, tools, and support to people around the world so that they can use video safely, ethically, and effectively to create positive change.
