Director (maternity cover) at Focus on Labour Exploitation
Salary: £38,000-£42,500 dependent on experience
Term: 9 months
Commencing: 16 May 2016
Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX) works to end human trafficking for labour exploitation in the UK and worldwide. FLEX’s unique approach to the problem of human trafficking is focussed on the prevention of labour rights abuses, the protection of the human rights of trafficked persons and the promotion of best practice responses to trafficking for labour exploitation.
We are seeking a full-time Director to provide strategic and operational leadership of FLEX during a maternity cover period of nine months, commencing in May 2016 - for the right candidate job flexibility can be discussed. Above all, we are looking for someone who is dedicated to FLEX’s vision and approach. During this period you will oversee the implementation of FLEX’s new strategic plan, while ensuring FLEX’s human and financial resources are optimised to carry out its planned activities. You will monitor, report on and review all FLEX activities in line with the strategic plan, and will build and maintain relationships with FLEX’s partners, donors and key stakeholders.
You will guide and support FLEX staff in the implementation of their work plans, and will ensure that FLEX’s work is delivered to a consistently high standard. You will lead FLEX’s evidence-based policy-advocacy work, continuing FLEX’s engagement with high-level policy makers and political stakeholders. You will also maintain FLEX’s public and professional profile, and ensure that FLEX’s work is responsive to national and international developments.
We are looking for someone with a demonstrated drive and ability to achieve change in the fields of human trafficking, human rights or migration. You will have solid experience in leading organisations or teams, and will have overseen significant organisational growth or development in previous positions. You will have substantial programme management experience, including experience in financial management, staff management, donor reporting and governance. You will have a track record of success in fundraising from a range of donors, including international and institutional donors, as well as trusts and foundations.
